Writing guidelines

Manuscripts must be written in a clear, structured, and accessible manner. This page presents all the writing and formatting rules that must be followed when submitting to JIRECS.

1 Article Structure

The manuscript must include the following sections:

Title

In French and English
It should be attractive, concise, and informative.

Authors’ names and affiliations

The corresponding author must be identified with an asterisk (*).

Abstract

150 to 250 words
Preferably provided in both French and English.

Keywords

Maximum of 5 to 7
In French and English.

Introduction

Context, research problem, and objectives.

Methodology

Scientific approach, methods, and tools used.

Results and discussion

Presentation and analysis of the results obtained.

Conclusion and recommendations

Synthesis, contributions, and research perspectives.

References

Complete list of cited sources (APA 7th edition).

Flexibility: In addition to the sections listed above, authors may include other sections if necessary (Acknowledgements, Appendices, etc.).

2 Typographical Standards

Font and layout

Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing

Section numbering

Each section of the main text (from Introduction to Conclusion) must be numbered: 1., 2., etc.
Subsections should follow: 1.1, 1.1.1, etc.

Units and nomenclature

Must comply with the International System of Units (SI)
Consult the SI guide

Tables and figures

  • Inserted within the text and numbered using Arabic numerals: Figure 1, Table 1, etc.
  • Clearly legible and editable (not provided as images)
  • Titles placed above tables and below figures
  • All tables and figures must be cited in the text

3 Citations and References (APA 7th Edition)

The bibliographic style adopted is APA, 7th edition.

  • All references cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and vice versa.
  • References must be listed in alphabetical order by the first author.
  • Including the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) is strongly recommended when available.

In-text citations

Single author
(Kouadio, 2022) or Kouadio (2022) shows that…
Two authors
(Ali & Baba, 2021) or Ali and Baba (2021) emphasize that…
Three or more authors
(Ali et al., 2020) or according to Ali et al. (2020)…
Multiple references

Best practices

  • Use a reference manager (Zotero, Mendeley, EndNote) configured to APA 7th edition.
  • Always verify DOIs and URLs before submission.
  • Avoid unpublished or in-press data unless the article has been accepted and proof can be provided upon request.

4 Languages and Translation

Accepted languages

Manuscripts may be submitted in French or English.

Bilingual abstract

To enhance visibility, authors are encouraged to provide a translated version of the abstract in the second language.

Editing services

The editorial office may offer language editing or translation services prior to publication.

5 Accessibility and Dissemination

Full open access

The journal is published in full open access on the OJS 3.5 platform.

Indexing and DOI

Each article is indexed and digitally archived with a DOI.

Academic sharing

The journal encourages responsible sharing on platforms such as Virtual Libraries, LinkedIn, ResearchGate, HAL, and other open repositories.

6 Review and Updates

These author guidelines are reviewed every three years by the Editorial Committee to remain aligned with scientific, technological, and ethical developments.
